RTP and House Edge Calculator

Explore a fixed 99% RTP model and see why theoretical return over turnover cannot predict the outcome of a real gambling session.

Expected return calculator

See how a 1% mathematical house edge affects turnover over many rounds. This is an expectation, not a prediction of your session.

Theoretical return990.00
Expected P/L−10.00
Expected final bankroll990.00

Important: variance can produce a much larger win or loss in any real session, and the bankroll may be exhausted before all rounds are played. RTP never guarantees profit.

Formula

How the estimate is calculated

OutputCalculation in this model
Total wageredBet per round × number of rounds
Theoretical returnTotal wagered × 99%
Expected lossTotal wagered × 1%
Expected final bankrollStarting bankroll − expected loss

The expected final bankroll is a mathematical simplification. It assumes the planned turnover can be completed; in reality, the bankroll may be exhausted first.

Expectation versus session

RTP does not describe the path

Two games can share a 99% RTP and still produce very different short-term experiences because volatility, paytable shape, maximum win and feature frequency differ. RTP says nothing about when returns occur.

Review the slot checklist or the Originals guide before applying a percentage to a specific title.

No result prediction.

The output is not a forecast, a strategy, a promise of loss limits or evidence that continued play will converge during a user's lifetime.

Comparing 99% RTP and Zero Edge

A 99% RTP corresponds to a 1% theoretical house edge in this simplified model. Duel's published Zero Edge explanation describes a different mechanism for eligible play within an allowance. Do not apply that allowance to every game or use this calculator as proof of current Duel terms.

99% RTP model

Expected loss equals 1% of turnover, before other conditions.

100% theoretical RTP

Zero expected house edge does not remove variance.

Real session

The outcome can diverge sharply from either expectation.

Use the result responsibly

If the expected turnover cost is uncomfortable, the appropriate response is to reduce or avoid the activity—not to search for a stake pattern that claims to beat randomness. Visit the responsible gambling resources for limit and exclusion options.

Key points

Frequently asked questions

What does 99% RTP mean?
In the long-run model, 99 units are theoretically returned for every 100 units wagered across a very large sample, leaving a 1% house edge.
Does 99% RTP mean I will lose exactly 1%?
No. The 1% figure is an expectation over turnover. A real session can finish with a much larger loss or a gain.
Why can total wagered exceed the bankroll?
The same funds can be recycled through repeated rounds. Turnover counts every stake, not only the initial deposit.
Is this calculator specific to every Duel game?
No. It is an educational fixed 99% model. Use the exact RTP and rules published for the game you are assessing.
